Associate Director – Investments – Net Zero Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an Associate Director, who will play a crucial role in our mission to drive forward sustainable and equitable growth. As part of the Investment Origination Team, you will identify, structure, and close successful investment transactions in debt and equity, with a focus on energy transition, industrial decarbonisation, and new energy technologies. This role requires an individual with expertise in complex deal-making environments, who thrives in a collaborative and solutions-driven team. About You Professional experience in investing/financing net zero-relevant companies or projects, or relevant experience in the industrial or energy supply chain. Degree qualified in Business, Finance, or related fields with commercial industry experience. Professional qualifications (CA, CFA, ACT or similar) and experience in investment banking or private debt/equity institutional investment, particularly in energy, project finance, and infrastructure. Experience in impact and sustainable investment techniques is welcome. Practical ‘origination to close’ experience in a transactional/M&A context. Knowledge of specific market factors in Scotland is desirable. Enjoy working flexibly to client and transaction-driven deadlines in a diverse, solutions-driven team environment. Key Responsibilities: Leading or supporting deals from origination through structuring and closing across Net Zero investments in energy transition, circular economy, climate tech, and more Collaborating with Investment Risk, Investment Legal, and Impact Assessment colleagues on all investment opportunities. Managing due diligence, financial modeling, risk analysis, and mitigation in structuring loans, equity investments, or other deal structures. Preparing investment papers and supporting more junior team members. Ensuring legal documentation is successfully structured, negotiated, and concluded in line with approvals. Fostering sustainable relationships with the energy sector ecosystem in Scotland, including banks, advisers, institutional investors, and industry players. Supporting strategic relationships with government and industry stakeholders to execute Net Zero initiatives.
