Job Description
Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist\\nLocation: Greater Manchester\\n\\nIndustry: Food Manufacturing\\n\\nSalary Range: £45k to £50k + Benefits\\n\\nI’m currently recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturing business for a Senior EHS Specialist to join their team. This is a key position with responsibility for shaping and embedding a proactive, high-performance safety culture across the site’s operations.\\n\\nIf you're an experienced safety professional with strong technical expertise, a passion for continuous improvement, and NEBOSH qualifications, this could be your ideal next step.\\n\\nThe Role:\\n\\n * Develop and implement robust health & safety policies in line with UK legislation and industry standards\\n\\n * Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard identification initiatives\\n\\n * Lead training and development on topics including fire safety, manual handling, PPE, and emergency procedures\\n\\n * Drive compliance across EHS standards, producing regular reports and liaising with external regulators\\n\\n * Lead thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions\\n\\n * Deliver occupational health & wellbeing programmes, including health surveillance\\n\\n * Take ownership of environmental management and continuous improvement initiatives\\n\\n * Promote engagement through safety campaigns, events, and communication strategies\\n\\n * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, best practices, and emerging risks\\n\\nYour Skills & Experience\\n\\n * Educated to degree level in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field\\n\\n * Holds the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) – Essential\\n\\n * Demonstrable experience in EHS roles, ideally within a food manufacturing or regulated environment\\n\\n * Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation, compliance, and audit processes\\n\\n * Effective trainer with the ability to develop and deliver engaging safety content\\n\\n * Skilled in incident reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring\\n\\n * A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent stakeholder communication skills\\n\\n * Flexible approach to working hours and site needs (some weekend/holiday coverage may be required)
