Technical Assistant
You will be joining a well-established and highly respected manufacturer of high-quality, speciality food products. The business is growing and has exciting expansion plans in the pipeline, making this an excellent time to join the team and develop your career.
About the Technical Assistant job
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will provide technical and specification support across the business, liaising with both suppliers and customers to ensure products meet all technical, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key tasks
- Develop and maintain product specifications, including recipes, in collaboration with the product development team as well as ensuring raw material and packaging specifications are current and compliant.
- Support the maintenance and updating of the Quality Management System (QMS) and associated documentation, conduct and document internal audits, including GMP, Hygiene, and Glass & Plastic checks.
- Conduct verification checks on the siteβs Critical Control Points (CCPs) and help with day-to-day maintenance of HACCP and monitor compliance with food safety legislation, quality standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.
- Provide technical support and advice to the production team, Interpret and implement quality assurance standards and procedures and promote and monitor GMP, hygiene, and quality standards across the site.
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformances and develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventative actions.
About You
- The successful candidate shall ideally have Food Safety Level 2 or HACCP Level 2 certification as well as previous experience in a food technical environment.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and functions and good communication skills across all levels, both formal and informal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A Graduate in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related subject is desirable.
- Additional qualifications such as legal food labelling, food safety, HACCP, or BRC standards are advantageous but not essential.

The Technical Assistant job (ref:8984) is paying Β£28,000 β Β£32,000 according to your experience.
The working hours are Monday to Friday β usual office hours.
The role is commutable from London, Waltham Cross, Enfield, Woodford, Barnet, Romford, Epping, Potters Bar, and Edgware.
