As a pastoral support you would support teachers and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. In this role you will work with form tutors, to ensure the welfare and progress of students in their learning, personal development and at certain transition/intervention points.

Job roles will include:

  • Working within a Secondary school full-time as a Teaching Assistant

  • Maintain high levels of attendance and punctuality, and working to improve it.

  • Be the first point of contact for students and families when personal matters affect learning

  • Support students’ progress by monitoring attendance and punctuality and acting effectively to improve it

  • Work with agencies in school and beyond to support students and their families

  • Maintain school records on attendance, progress, interventions and communications for evaluation, accountability and statutory purposes

  • Work within school systems on safeguarding and communication to inform senior leaders

  • Contribute to students’ personal development as a mentor and coach;

  • Provide lunchtime and break supervision each day, being available for and interacting with students, whilst ensuring that good order is maintained.

  • Be involved with sharing information on Student Services

  • Working with children aged 11 to 18 years

  • Ability to always conduct yourself in a professional manner whilst working in schools

Essential Criteria

  • Undertake such other duties of a similar nature as the Headteacher may reasonably require

  • Any previous experience working with children

  • Strong English & Mathematics

  • Communicational skills relevant to both children and adult

  • Understanding of positive and sensitive intervention strategies

  • Competent skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT

  • Ability to self-manage and organise own time

  • Personal qualities

  • Reliable

  • Smart appearance

  • Empathetic

  • Professional attitude

  • Ambitious and hard working

  • Desire to be a positive role model to young people, Minimum A-C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, STL Level 2 or relevant experience, GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

£9.50 for the first 1 2 months inc to NMW
