Exam Invigilator
Location: Swindon – North Star Campus and Queens Drive Campus
Salary: £12.54 per hourAs an Exam Invigilator, you will help ensure exams run like clockwork. You’ll be the calm in the storm, the rule-keeper, the time-watcher, and the silent cheerleader for students doing their best.
What you will do as an Exam Invigilator
- Setting the scene: Preparing exam rooms, distributing papers, and welcoming students with quiet confidence.
- Keeping it fair: Ensuring exam regulations are followed to the letter – no phones, no talking, no funny business.
- Staying alert: Watching for signs of malpractice, confusion, or distress – and knowing exactly what to do if something goes awry.
- Supporting students: Guiding them through the process, answering procedural questions, and helping them stay calm and focused.
- Working as a team: Collaborating with the Exams Manager and fellow invigilators to keep everything running smoothly.
- Being flexible: Available during key exam periods (November, January, May, June, and July) and willing to work across both campuses.
Experience/Qualifications of an Exam Invigilator
- A sharp eye for detail and a steady hand under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A sense of fairness, empathy, and professionalism.
- Confidence in following procedures and handling unexpected situations.
- Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn.
