Structural Engineer – Defence Sector

A well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join its Birmingham team, delivering high-security infrastructure within the UK defence sector.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a developing engineer to contribute to technically complex projects that play a key role in national security and resilience. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team, gaining exposure to secure facilities, infrastructure design, and multi-disciplinary project environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structural analysis and design for defence infrastructure and secure facility projects.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with project and regulatory standards.
- Support senior engineers and project leads in developing innovative and compliant design solutions.
- Liaise with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to support project coordination and delivery.
- Participate in site inspections, assessments, and design reviews as required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (MEng or BEng).
- Working towards Chartership with IStructE or ICE, or recently chartered.
- A sound understanding of structural principles, Eurocodes, and relevant design standards.
- Proficient in structural design software (e.g. Tekla, Robot, Revit, or similar).
- Experience in the defence or secure infrastructure sectors is advantageous but not essential.
- Must be eligible for UK security clearance (SC level) – existing clearance is beneficial.
