We are currently supporting our client, a high-growth virtual online pharmacy, with recruiting a Prescribing Pharmacist, who ideally holds an Independent Prescriber (IP) qualification, to join the business in playing a key role to support it\’s continued growth, whilst ensuring the continued provision of care and service to it\’s patients.

This is an fully office based role, working 5 days per week, Monday to Friday (8.30am – 5.30pm)

Pharmacists play a key role in the operation of the business and you will step into the business from day one, and will have a lot of responsibility.

About the role:

This role combines clinical and operational responsibilities, including independent prescribing, final accuracy checking, and supporting the team with order queries and controlled drug management using a bespoke internal system, as well as controlled drug register.

You will apply your prescribing qualification for 1–2 hours per day as part of your daily responsibilities, ensuring safe, effective, and timely delivery of patient care.

Some of the key responsibilities for the Prescribing Pharmacist role will involve:

  • Perform clinical screening of prescriptions to ensure safety, appropriateness, and compliance.
  • Carry out final accuracy checks in line with legal and professional requirements.
  • Manage and resolve order queries and clinical interventions via the internal bespoke system.
  • Ensure controlled drug (CD) records are accurately maintained and regularly updated in accordance with legislation.
  • Provide guidance and support to dispensing and operational teams.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and uphold GPhC, and company standards.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and SOP reviews.

The successful candidate for the Prescribing Pharmacist will have the following background:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MPharm or equivalent pharmacy degree
  • GPhC-registered pharmacist
  • Independent Prescriber qualification (essential)
  • Proven experience in a community, hospital, or online pharmacy environment

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong clinical judgement and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software
  • Confident in reviewing data, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining compliance
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
