I am retained on a search for a leading global asset manager, whose investment vehicles span private equity, real estate, debt and equity, infrastructure, growth equity, non-investment grade credit, real assets and secondary funds on a global basis.
A role has presented within their highly innovative Private Wealth business, established to meet the growing demand for alternative investment products from high-net worth investors. They partner with many of the world’s largest private banks and wealth management firms as well as family offices to package and deliver the full breadth of their alternative product capability.
This role involves product structuring and launching the firm’s individual investor focused vehicles, managing the day-to-day legal matters for new and existing retail funds, and assisting on strategic projects.
Job Description:
This role will involve a variety of interesting and cutting-edge legal and general corporate matters, with a focus on the formation and ongoing management of their European retail business, targeted at private banks and wealth managers. Primary job responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the design and launch of new funds.
- Overseeing the ongoing day-to-day management of new and existing funds.
- Assisting with project management and fund formation matters and participating in product development of various investment structures across multiple jurisdictions.
- Participating in the creation and management of fund board materials.
- Managing regulatory filings (e.g., AIFMD disclosures, annual reports and prospectus updates) and assisting with the day-to-day oversight of legal matters.
- Working with the in-house Legal & Compliance team and external counsel to monitor and implement legal and regulatory developments that impact their European retail funds and distribution.
The successful candidate will be:
- Qualified in England and Wales with a minimum of 6PQE in private fund formation, gained from a leading US / UK law firm or relevant investment manager.
- Experience related to the retailisation of private funds is advantageous but NOT essential
- Be a creative problem solver with a can-do attitude, capable of thriving in a dynamic and high growth environment.
- Have an interest in financial markets and legal processes with an ability to step in and work directly with stakeholders in the business.
- Be a strong and independent thinker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, willing to embrace a variety of issues and responsibilities.
