About The Role
Team – Pricing & Underwriting Governance
Working Pattern – Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Vitality Bournemouth Office. Full time, 35 hours per week.

What this role is all about:
Make sure the underwriting process (how insurance is assessed and priced) meets quality standards for all types of clients-individuals, small businesses, and large companies-for both new applications and existing customers. Check that risks taken on by VitalityHealth are priced correctly and follow the company\’s underwriting policies.
Be the main go-to person for any questions about pricing, helping teams in Servicing, Retention, and Sales by providing timely and accurate answers based on the official pricing rules.
Review discount requests in partnership with the Pricing team, evaluating scheme performance to ensure any applied discounts align with underwriting principles and maintain commercial viability.
Build strong relationships with the teams in Servicing, Sales, Retention, and Underwriting to encourage teamwork and support shared business goals.
Key Actions
- Provide accurate responses to requests received in person or by email, including supplying rate cards, and ensure this is done within the agreed service levels.
- Conduct regular checks such as underwriting audits, quality assurance reviews, and twice-yearly tests to make sure processes follow the Large Corporate Underwriting Philosophy.
- Keep underwriting philosophy documents and guidelines updated as needed.
- Carry out all quality checks required for underwriting licence progression and offer expert recommendations based on the results.
- Stay up-to-date and well-informed about underwriting guidelines and philosophies to ensure consistency and accuracy in your work and the work of others.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and databases to enable the production of reliable management information.
- Assess discount requests by analysing how a scheme is performing to make sure any discounts meet commercial requirements.
- Support other tasks when needed, such as collecting monthly competitor data.
What do you need to thrive?
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above, or other proof of strong reading, writing, and number skills
- Energetic and adaptable person who enjoys working in a fast-changing and innovative environment
- Experience checking the work of others and talking through any problems with them and their managers
- Strong organisational and communication skills, able to handle several tasks at once and plan your time well
- Confident using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, to manage and review data both through standard processes and when needed
- Able to keep sensitive business information private
- Great verbal and written communication skills, including presenting complex ideas clearly to both small and large groups
- Very detail-focused and thorough in your work
