A modern, forward-thinking law firm in Surrey is looking for a Senior Family Lawyer to join the team and play a pivotal role in developing the family law practice.
This isn’t your typical law firm. Led by a commercial lawyer who set out to build something different, the firm operates more like a modern business than a traditional legal partnership. This is a non-traditional firm in both structure and style— built around trust, not titles. Very much a team of passionate, down-to-earth professionals who believe in doing good work, supporting each other, and building a business that reflects the real world.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to do more than fee-earn. You’ll be leading on complex family matters—particularly domestic abuse and safeguarding work—and shaping the future of the family department. You’ll manage clients, support junior team members, and contribute to wider conversations about how family law should evolve.
The firm is already partnering with charities and public bodies to push for change in the system. They want someone who shares that drive—someone who sees what’s not working and wants to do something about it.
What you’ll be doing:
• Managing a varied family law caseload, with a focus on domestic abuse and safeguarding
• Working directly with vulnerable clients with empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism
• Supervising and supporting junior team members, including a junior solicitor and a future NQ hire
• Playing a strategic role in developing the team, shaping service delivery, and growing the practice
• Collaborating with third-sector organisations and court professionals
• Balancing remote working with in-person meetings and court attendance as needed
We are looking for;
• A qualified solicitor with significant family law experience (ideally 6+ PQE)
• Strong background in domestic abuse cases and confident working with vulnerable clients
• Naturally empathetic, people-focused, and an excellent communicator
• Excited by the idea of driving change and challenging the status quo in family law
• A collaborative leader who’s happy to support, mentor, and grow a team
• Ideally based within easy reach of Surrey, with flexibility to attend the office as needed
You’ll be joining a close-knit, values-led firm where everyone’s voice counts. Culture matters deeply here—this is a supportive, grown-up environment where flexibility is real and ambition is encouraged.
