Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Retrofit & Refurbishment
Location: Cardiff – Site Based
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + Package
We are working with a specialist contractor delivering retrofit and fabric upgrade projects across South Wales. They are now looking to appoint a Qualified Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction, refurbishment, or void contracts to take full commercial ownership across a range of schemes.
This is a site-based role suited to a proactive QS who thrives on autonomy and can drive value from tender through to final account.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and control all financial and contractual aspects of retrofit projects
- Measurement, pricing, and evaluation of tenders
- Lead projects from inception to completion with full commercial accountability
- Identify opportunities to increase margin and reduce risk
- Produce and manage cost plans, budgets, and CVRs
- Handle subcontract procurement, management, and payment
- Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment
- Develop and maintain subcontractor and supplier contracts
- Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety and regulatory standards
Requirements:
- Professional qualification (HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma or equivalent)
- Proven experience in commercial management within construction – retrofit/fabric upgrades preferred
- Skilled in using bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and D&B contracts
- Confident in managing both direct and subcontract labour
- Strong knowledge of commercial reporting and forecasting
- Excellent Excel and general IT skills
- Able to work independently, while supporting and mentoring others where needed
