The Financial Accountant is the lead for the organisation\’s transactional, statutory and regulatory accounting. The Financial Accountant will drive a systems focused approach, liaising with external auditors and other external bodies where appropriate, ensuring that the team are efficient and effective whilst compliant with all relevant requirements. The role will include responsibility for statutory accounts processes, VAT, tax and pension reporting.

Description

  • Lead on the preparation of the annual statutory accounts including liaising with the external auditors and completion of relevant regulatory returns.
  • Lead on the Group\’s tax and VAT compliance, liaising with HMRC where required and ensuring that processes are in line with requirements and operate effectively.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the transactional teams associated with payments, income and payroll.
  • Develop, implement and review accounting systems, procedures and internal control mechanisms and lead on subsequent implementation.
  • Ensure that the Company\’s revenue income is optimised and in particular that all allowances are claimed as due.
  • Lead on the on-going maintenance and review of the Asset & Liability register in line with policy and procedures
  • Liaise with the assets division and have oversight of investment programme; ensuring appropriate information needs are met.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the capital accounts team.

Profile

As a qualified Accountant you will need to be technically strong, particularly with the upcoming changes to SORP, and will be expected to advise on implications such as partial exemptions.
