The Ideal Concrete Carpenter / Finisher will have experience in Heavy marine construction setting up and dismantling concrete forms while maintaining a clean and safe work environment onsite. This position works within a larger team, assisting other members as needed in the completion of construction projects. The concrete carpenter finisher may be required to perform basic construction tasks (i.e. – hammering, cutting, measuring, loading, unloading, etc.).
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Form and pour concrete for various heavy civil and marine structures, including foundations, walls, and pile caps, slabs.
- Set up and dismantle concrete forms, ensuring proper alignment and dimensions.
- Positions forms that hold concrete to the correct depth and ensure they are properly aligned.
- Install and tie reinforcing steel bars (rebar) to provide structural integrity.
- Utilize hand and power tools to cut, shape, and finish concrete to specified requirements.
- Safely operate heavy equipment such as concrete mixers and power buggies.
- Maintain and repair concrete forms and other carpentry tools as needed.
- Spreads and levels concrete using rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, hand or power screeds, and floats.
- Installs anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures as called for in job specifications into poured concrete before it hardens.
- Keeps all equipment secure to minimize loss due to theft.
- Returns equipment to its proper location after use.
- Acknowledges the importance of safety and PPE on the job site.
- Reports any unsafe conditions or concerns immediately.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proven experience as a Concrete Carpenter or similar role in the heavy civil or marine construction industry.
- Proficient in using carpentry and concrete finishing tools.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures in a construction environment.
- Ability to work over water and on work floats.
- Operates equipment in a safe and respectful manner. Maintains an awareness of the site conditions and adjusts the operation of equipment as needed to operate safely.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Must be able to shoot grades.
- Ability to finish surfaces to produce the final product as called for in job specifications using brooms, hand tools, power trowels, and riding trowel is a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Noisy environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
