Fostering Independent Reviewing Officer

Location: Midlands

Purpose of the role

The post entails the planning, preparation, and chairing of annual foster carer reviews. To quality assure the practice, supervision, and support of Jay Fostering foster carers. Jay Fostering recruits foster carers for children in local authority care and supports foster carers to develop their skills and knowledge to care appropriately for these children. We recruit independent workers as their reviewing officers and fostering panel members to ensure quality assurance and a critical eye is undertaken by persons not employed by the agency.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • A recognised social work qualification, along with substantial post qualification experience in fostering or children’s services.
  • Valid social work registration.
  • Be required to have a current DBS specific to the role.
  • Good knowledge and comprehension of child care and fostering legislation, regulations, guidance and minimum standards.
  • Able to work independently to ensure foster carers meet NMS requirements and expectations as excellent foster carers.
  • Able to respond flexibly to the demands of the post and prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to process and provide analysis of a wide variety of information.
  • Be able to work independently and provide review reports in a timely and planned way.

You will require effective reliable means of transport as the role requires travelling to foster carer homes to complete reviews. We offer a competitive fee and mileage allowance.

Please note that this is a Self-Employed role.
