Grid Compliance Engineer – BESS, CHP, Renewable Energy, T&D Projects – United Kingdom – £Excellent Daily Rate – Hybrid Role (Remote with Site Visits) – 9 Month Contract + Potential Extensions – ASAP Start Date
As a Grid Code Compliance Engineer, you’ll ensure our client\’s generation and storage projects meet all National Grid and DNO requirements, with a focus on Grid Code, G99, and ENA standards. You\’ll collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support the seamless grid integration of technologies like gas engines, CHP, BESS, and hybrid systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the grid compliance process on new and existing generation projects (33kV and below, occasional 132kV interface).
- Manage grid connection applications and liaise with National Grid and DNOs to obtain connection offers.
- Coordinate and review Power System Studies (P28, P29, G99, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, etc).
- Support the development of grid compliance documentation – including FONs, compliance declarations, settings, and modelling.
- Work with commissioning teams to ensure on-site testing aligns with grid code obligations and relevant type testing.
- Act as the technical liaison for all grid connection matters, representing the client with National Grid, ENA, consultants, and clients.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or similar.
- Strong understanding of National Grid’s Grid Code, G99/G98, and ENA Engineering Recommendations.
- Experience working with or for a DNO, IDNO, ICP, or EPC delivering distributed generation or energy storage projects.
- Working knowledge of grid compliance studies and power systems software (e.g., DIgSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA, PSCAD).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to travel to project sites when needed.
