Assistant Health & Fitness Manager – Birchwood Park Golf Club – Wilmington, Dartford Essential: Level 3 Personal Training Qualification RESPONSIBLE TO : Health & Fitness Manager / General Manager MAIN DUTIES: The delivery of excellent services at all timers to ensure customer satisfaction and maximise membership retention. To provide day-to-day management, and assist in the overall management of the health & fitness facilities. The Assistant Manager will deputise in the absence of the Fitness Manger with the smooth functioning of all aspects of the health & fitness facilities. Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are followed; all whilst promoting the highest levels of customer service and staff engagement. Responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to): To assume the responsibilities of the Health & Fitness Manager in their absence and take on a Duty Manager role when on shift, which will include supporting other departments within the club. Contribute and help deliver our company values to the high standards. To help lead and deliver the operational excellence of the fitness club. Opening and securely closing the club depending on shift. Completing daily checks when on shift as per the normal operating procedures as well as ensuring the team are completing these to a high standard. Daily monitoring of equipment and the facilities, monitoring and recording cleanliness of the equipment and reporting any damage or faults and then take appropriate action to rectify damage and faulty equipment. Review the staffing requirement with the Health and Fitness Manager to promptly hire fitness instructors/lifeguards and cleaning staff. Support the Health & Fitness Manager in leading and developing high performing teams through effective training, people management, development and retention, lead the team by creating a positive and approachable impact on all the teams. Support the Health & Fitness Manager by ensuring the club is properly resourced, and staff are optimally deployed to deliver business objectives; providing emergency shift cover across the club as required. Assist the Health & Fitness Manager in ensuring that all contracts, licences and documentation required for the safe and effective operation of the fitness club are in place and adhered to consistently. Be involved and support the studio co-ordinator, swimming co-ordinator, lifeguards and cleaning team in the day to day running of the facilities. Keep ESP updated with customer bookings, rota, and class activities. Monitoring the pool, plant room checks, testing the quality of the water, regular checks of the pool, spa area and changing facilities and its users. Take an active role in developing instructor and personal training standards and making sure these standards are adhered to at the highest level. Take the lead in developing new ideas to promote members motivation and retention Ensure the presentation, cleanliness and hygiene of the club is maintained to a high standard at all times. Record all cleaning and hygiene undertaken. Recording and tracking trends within the fitness industry and passing these onto the fitness team and members. Address any customer service issues or complaints that arise in a professional and courteous manner and take further action where required. Conducting individual and group inductions/classes for members. Conduct Personal training sessions for members Administer first aid, assist in pool rescues and apply resuscitation as necessary. Demonstrate commitment to your continuous personal and professional development. Comply with BGL personnel policies and procedures and health & safety procedures including the Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plan. To undertake any further duties requested by the management. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working full time hours, (40 hours per week minimum), you will need to be flexible and adaptable, with the availability to work a varied rotation of shifts; which will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
