St Thomas\’ Lancaster is ranked13th nationally in the Church of England for 0-18s weekly attendance. Now we\’re looking for someone to take our youth ministry to its next chapter.

What You’ll Do
Vision & Leadership
- Develop and articulate a clear vision for youth ministry aligned with our church mission
- Lead, train and inspire a team of volunteer leaders
- Champion a culture of mission and evangelism among young people
Hands-On Ministry
- Deliver engaging teaching, worship and activities that spark spiritual growth
- Provide pastoral care and mentoring, including one-to-one support
- Support transitions (especially Year 6 to Year 7) and develop young leaders
- Plan special events: socials, retreats, outreach activities
Collaboration & Partnership
- Work closely with our Children and Families team and wider staff
- Build partnerships with local schools and city-wide youth initiatives
- Ensure safeguarding best practice across all activities
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Active Christian with living faith in Jesus Christ and a contagious passion for Scripture and prayer
- Experience leading youth ministry in a church context
- Proven ability to develop young people and volunteer teams
- Strong communication and relational ministry skills with teenagers
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- In sympathy with our evangelical-charismatic Anglican ethos (you don\’t need to be Anglican!)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in youth work, theology or education
- Full UK driving licence
- Leadership or coaching training
- Experience with contemporary youth culture and social media
The Essentials
Hours:30-40 hours per week (flexible depending on candidate)
Salary:£27,711 – £30,060 pro rata (based on experience and training)
Contract:Permanent position
Reports to:Vicar
Benefits Include:
- 6 weeks holiday including 6 Sundays
- At least 1 Sunday morning off per half-term to worship as a congregant
- Pension scheme (3% employer, 5% employee)
- One week personal retreat per year
- One week conference leave per year
- Time off in lieu for additional hours
- Mileage at 45p/mile
- Flexible working from home arrangements
