Location: Based at Netley

Contract: Full-time and permanent

Salary: Scale 4 (£26,106.00 – £28,653.00 per annum) plus a 14% shift allowance

Hours: Shift pattern on a 3-week rota

  1. Week 1: Monday to Friday, 0700 – 1500
  2. Week 2: Monday to Friday, 1000 – 1800
  3. Week 3: Monday to Thursday, 1400 – 2200 and Friday 1200 – 2000

The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) supports the Police and Crime Commissioner serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The OPCC provides a link between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) and the communities they serve through setting the budget and holding the Chief Constable to account in the delivery of an efficient and effective service.

Join our dedicated Estates Team and help maintain the buildings that support HIOWC in keeping our communities safe.

About the role

We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Facilities Officer to help us deliver high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse police estate. You’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground – spotting issues before they escalate, engaging with building users, and ensuring our facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From supporting building projects and relocations to supervising contractors and maintaining custodial facilities, you’ll play a key part in keeping our estate running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out general building maintenance and compliance checks.
  • Engaging with building users to promote good practices and prevent deterioration.
  • Supporting relocations, refurbishments, and decommissioning projects.
  • Supervising contractors and ensuring safe working practices.
  • Maintaining postal services and supporting facilities management coverage across core hours.
  • Ensuring health & safety and statutory compliance across multiple sites.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a facilities or maintenance role is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working in the public sector or hospitality industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Computer literate and confident in learning new systems.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • An understanding of building systems, maintenance practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, professional, and customer-focused approach to duties.
  • Eager to learn with a can-do attitude.
