GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to provide 1:1 support in a vibrant primary school in Eastbourne. This full-time role offers a fantastic opportunity to help children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) thrive academically and emotionally.

Role Overview:
As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require tailored support due to learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, or other special educational needs. Your focus will be to provide consistent assistance both in and out of the classroom, ensuring learners are safe, engaged, and progressing confidently.

Responsibilities for Individual Needs Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 support tailored to the specific needs of individual learner.
  • Implement personalised learning and behaviour strategies as guided by the SENCO and class teacher.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and specialists to monitor child development.
  • Encourage social, emotional, and academic growth through consistent support and guidance.

Requirements for the Individual Needs Assistant Role:

  • Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, patient demeanour.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the changing needs of individual pupils.
  • A team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
