Our client is looking for a locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Medicine for Older People department at a well-established NHS trust, based in Peterborough Cambridgeshire The post is available to start asap, offering full time hours per week.

The trust serve a population of over 600,000 with a combined workforce of around 9,000 dedicated and skilled staff delivering acute hospital care, intermediate care, primary care, and community-based services.

The successful locum will be working in the Urgent Crisis Response Team (UCR), and the patient caseload will be predominantly frail and elderly, so experience in this area is essential. The postholder will provides immediate support and intervention to older people in crisis, focusing on enhancing their functional abilities and overall well-being. Applying therapists must have experience of working within the community to be considered for this role.

Therapist’s applying for this role must have:

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • A relevant degree/qualification within Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment
  • Experience of working within a similar NHS setting
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to think outside the box
  • Duties within this role will include:

  • Managing a clinical caseload
  • Writing accurate and detailed reports on patient progress
  • Working as part as a multidisciplinary team
  • Discharge planning
  • Assessments and provision of hoists and slings
  • Devising care plans with family members and/or carers
  • Develop rehabilitation programs to help rebuild lost skills and restore lost confidence
