Skills

At Loughborough College, we are dedicated to ensuring all students reach their full academic potential and develop skills for a successful future. Our curriculum is primarily A Level. Academic Coaches play a vital role in our student support network, supporting students in their learning journey. The role includes:

  1. Delivering small group and 1:1 coaching sessions in our dedicated student attainment (STAR) room, working with the STAR lead, academic coaches, and teaching staff to identify students who will benefit from coaching, planning effective sessions on academic and study skills, and monitoring progress.
  2. Providing group tutorial sessions (Personal, Academic and Professional Development) and 1:1 pastoral guidance meetings, working with the Pastoral Lead and other support teams to support students throughout their Sixth Form journey, including UCAS and apprenticeship applications.
  3. Contributing to support services such as the Sixth Form Let’s Talk programme and Exam Support Rota, ensuring consistent well-being support for students.
  4. Supporting the design and delivery of enrichment programmes, sourcing guest speakers, hosting competitions and clubs, and assisting with educational trips and visits.

We seek candidates with experience in a student-centered environment. While experience in delivering workshops, coaching students, or UCAS processes is desirable, we value transferable skills such as proactivity, initiative, and relationship-building, which are essential for working effectively with staff and students.

The Sixth Form is a priority department, and we look for candidates eager to build on successful outcomes and embrace innovative delivery methods.

The college promotes a diverse and inclusive community, having achieved the Investor in Diversity award. We encourage applications from under-represented groups and support positive action under the Equality Act.

We offer professional and personal development opportunities and a generous benefits package, including:

  • A competitive pension scheme
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • On-site parking
  • Access to healthcare schemes
  • Subsidized nursery fees
  • Up to 25 days annual leave, plus additional leave
  • Generous maternity/paternity pay
  • CPD resources and well-being hours
  • Opportunities for volunteering in the community
