We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated English Intervention Tutor to work term time only. The information below provides more details about the role, and you may also wish to learn more about working for South Hampshire College Group by viewing the video below.

Duties:

  • Liaise with the Maths and/or English teams to identify students requiring additional support to improve their knowledge and skills for exams.
  • Deliver interventions and provide individualised support to individuals and small groups to support their progress and reach their full potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of student engagement and progress using information systems.
  • Provide feedback on progress to students and staff, creating, implementing, updating, and recording interventions.
  • Research, design, and implement learning resources for small group and 1:1 interventions.
  • Be a role model and advocate for maths & English learning.
  • Follow up with students who miss sessions or disengage, and re-engage them by communicating with staff and next of kin.
  • Plan and run intensive revision sessions for exam preparation.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Managers to identify and devise interventions for disengaged students.
  • Communicate regularly with students\’ Next of Kin to support engagement.
  • Support staff during enrolment to ensure appropriate interventions are implemented timely.
  • Manage the Maths and/or English Hub area, ensuring resources meet students\’ needs.
  • Contribute to curriculum activities like KPI and QIP.
  • Represent the college at events when needed.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience delivering English and/or maths to young people
  • Coaching individuals to achieve goals
  • Supporting English and/or maths in small groups or one-to-one

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Degree or equivalent in English/maths

Ideal Attributes:

  • Motivate individuals and groups in English and/or maths
  • Enthuse and engage students, including those who are demotivated or lack confidence
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences
