About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Lead Social Worker to join theForensic Mental Health & Psychiatric Intensive Care Unitin Horley.

You’ll be working at Moorlands Neurological Centre, a new neurological facility dedicated to men and women aged 18 and over who have an acquired brain injury. The centre places a strong emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and delivering excellent care.
Working 37.5 hours per week, you will work closely with the Hospital Director, Christine, and the wider multidisciplinary team. You’ll build strong, individual relationships to support service users in engaging with their treatment plans and achieving their recovery goals. In this role, you will also play a key part in collating and managing information relevant to care plans and ensuring high standards of care delivery.

Main responsibilities:
- Complete comprehensive social care assessments and reports throughout the pre-admission, treatment, and discharge stages.
- Liaise with home authorities upon admission and maintain communication throughout the service user’s stay.
- Collaborate with home authorities and service users, supporting families in making informed decisions and participating in the care planning process.
- Facilitate risk assessments and contribute to the development and implementation of person-centred care plans.
- Support service users in preparing for and attending Mental Health Review Tribunals, appeals to Mental Health Act Independent Hospital Managers, and other relevant hearings.
- Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to ICR meetings and facilitating group activities that promote recovery and wellbeing.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior social work staff to ensure high-quality practice
Person Specification:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent)
- Registered with Social Work England
- A degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
- Previous experience working within forensic mental health, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), or similar settings in either the NHS or private sector.
- Experience managing a complex caseload, conducting social care and risk assessments, and delivering high-quality reports.
- Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005), and safeguarding processes.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
