A leading international food ingredients business is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its UK-based coatings facility, specialising in bespoke ingredient solutions for the food manufacturing and foodservice sectors.

Responsibilities
As the Technical Manager, you will take ownership of the technical and quality agenda on site and serve as the key point of contact for all technical matters, both internally and with external partners. This includes ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting commercial and NPD activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the site’s technical function, ensuring compliance with BRCGS, customer standards, and internal policies
- Acting as the main technical liaison for key customers, auditors, and external bodies
- Overseeing product integrity, specifications, traceability, and quality management systems
- Working closely with NPD, production, and commercial teams to ensure smooth product launches and technical feasibility
- Managing and developing the site’s quality and technical team, embedding a culture of accountability and excellence
- Leading internal and third-party audits, managing non-conformances, and driving corrective/preventive actions
- Supporting environmental and sustainability compliance efforts as part of wider ESG commitments
- Reporting to group-level technical leadership to align local practices with broader European standards
Candidate Profile
The successful Technical Manager will be hands-on, commercially aware technical professional with experience in the food manufacturing or ingredients sector — ideally with exposure to dry blending, seasonings, coatings, or similar processes.
Key requirements:
- Strong knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and BRCGS accreditation
- Proven leadership experience within a technical or quality management role, having developed a team before.
- Comfortable engaging with major customers, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience managing or developing technical teams
