We are seeking to recruit 2 x Specialty Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics within the Surgical Directorate on a FTC of 3 months.
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialty Doctors to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics Team that will rotate across the departments of upper limb surgery, lower limb primary and revision arthroplasty, knee and soft tissue knee surgery, hand surgery and foot and ankle surgery.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to participate fully in the provision of Trauma and Orthopaedics services to the Hospital. There will be an expectation for successful candidate to work on a rotation within the Orthopaedic department.
The typical job plan would include on call 1:8 for Orthopaedics and Trauma, Elective orthopaedic clinics x2, Fracture clinic x1, Elective theatre list x2 and Trauma list x0.5, with 1.5 as SPA and 0.5 PA as Admin time. An opportunity exists for successful applicants to engage in additional sessions above 10PA’s to a max 12PA and there is opportunity to attend more theatre sessions if the candidate is interested.
Main duties will include but not exhaustive to:-
- Be in elective theatres with a named Consultant.
- See the patients pre op along with the Consultant, in the respective wards, and ensure all the checks are done preoperatively.
- When on call you will need to attend the morning trauma meeting and be present in the post take ward rounds.
- Deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
- You may be required to do peripheral clinics in the nearby town of Skipton.
- You are expected to be their first point of contact for advice. Supervising junior doctors in their daily work will be your responsibility.

The successful candidate/s will join the existing team in providing a comprehensive level of service to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and its users.
The post will be based at Airedale General Hospital but there will be an expectation to support clinic activity at a satellite site in Skipton.

- Reasonable experience in independent operating in Trauma
- AO courses for Trauma
- QI Projects
- Publications / presentations in the field of Orthopaedics and Trauma.
Communication Skills
