Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Practice Accountant at AAT Level 4 to join a friendly, growing team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience preparing tax returns, bookkeeping, and working with sole traders and small businesses. You will play a key role in supporting our clients accounting needs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file personal and sole trader tax returns (Self Assessment)
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Assist with VAT returns and payroll processing
Support clients in managing their financial records and advise on basic tax planning
Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients
Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders and small businesses
Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
Provide general accounting support to senior accountants and partners
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and best practices
Requirements
AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent)
Proven experience in practice accounting, particularly with sole traders and small businesses
Strong knowledge of tax returns preparation and filing (Self Assessment)
Proficient in bookkeeping and familiar with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
Understanding Of VAT, Payroll, And Other Compliance Requirements
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
