About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Cloud Engineer to join the cloud team within the Digital Technology function. Reporting to the Lead Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, management, maintenance and upkeep of the Core Cloud environment(s) while providing support and architectural advice to mission areas across the business.

This role is critical to the cloud team, requiring a highly effective individual with strong technical skills who is excited by working in a fast passed, hybrid environment and who can drive operational excellence. You will have the ability to work within and create solutions for highly regulated environments is a key aspect of this role.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant experience hands on experience deploying AWS solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Working towards or achieved a relevant AWS certification at associate level.
  • Experience across a broad range of AWS services, technologies and practices, including but not limited to:
  • AWS VPCs
  • AWS IAM
  • AWS Organizations
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • GitOps
  • DevOps

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding and experience of the Scrum framework
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience controlling and using Linux systems via a terminal
  • Experience of using containerisation (Docker)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure monitoring and reporting of all resources within the organization\’s AWS platform(s).
  • Identifies, plans, and drives maintenance tasks and upgrades in line with change management procedures and technical vendor guidelines to ensure quality, integrity and availability of IT services.
  • Reviews company and corporate policy and procedure documentation and ensures all IT systems and services remain in compliance with enterprise standards.
  • Adheres to incident, problem and change management processes, minimising impact, or disruption to services.
  • Ensures daily/weekly/monthly system checks as outlined in documented checklists and KPIs are performed.
  • Plans, oversees, or implements new approved AWS services in line with project commitments.
  • Ensures standards of system documentation and support procedures for the DT function are maintained.
  • Develops approaches to improve, streamline and automate the capability, security and health status of the environment.
  • Proactively identify and manage risk via the IT Risk Management process.
