Job Description:

Librarian in Charge

We are currently looking for an experienced librarian to join our team at Cwmafan Library, Depot Road, Cwmafan, Port Talbot SA12 9DF. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day administration and management of the library.

Main duties include:

  • Supervising the administration and management of the library
  • Supervising library staff
  • Routine supervision of IT equipment and services
  • Contributing to staff training
  • Engaging with schools and community groups for service development
  • Identifying growth potential and promoting library usage
  • Contributing to stock selection and promotion
  • Maintaining records and safety checks
  • Developing links with youth organizations and schools
  • Implementing authority strategies and policies
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Library Services Manager

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Experience in professional library work
  • Experience supervising and motivating staff
  • Extensive experience working in public libraries
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent grades A-C, including English
