Do you have experience working with people with a learning disability? Are you passionate about working for an organisation that drives change? Then we may have the role for you within our Supported Internship team.

An exciting opportunity for a passionate and self-motivated Skills Coach to join our Supported Internship programme team in Ealing. We are offering one full-time (37.5 hours per week) and one part-time (22 hours per week) contract.

As a Skills Coach, your role is central to the delivery of our Mencap Training Academy. You will support learners with SEN to complete all elements of the programme in line with requirements by providing tailored support. The role will be based in the community classroom of our supported internship programme, supporting learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities and difficulties.

What you will do as a Skills Coach

  1. Be accountable for learner progression and ensuring the young adults achieve the skills they need to make progress onto paid employment.
  2. You will deliver support in various ways: 1-1 job coaching, working with learners in the classroom to develop employability skills, and embedding English and Maths learning in the workplace.
  3. You will support people to learn the skills they need to achieve sustained paid employment.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

  • Experience of supporting people
  • Experience of delivering against targets
  • Knowledge of safe working practices
  • Knowledge of the sector
  • Effective record keeping and reporting

All candidates offered an interview will need to provide evidence of their GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at interview stage. Please have your certificates ready to email if contacted for an interview.
