The vacancy is for a forensic social worker with AMHP status (Band 7).
Forensic social workers provide statutory social work to hospital inpatients in secure care and social supervision to restricted community patients under the Ministry of Justice.
The forensic service is working in a climate of change so requires flexible working practices including working across sites to meet the challenges and opportunities in the NHS.
You will be joining a Multi-Disciplinary Team providing forensic services to Birmingham and the surrounding regional areas.
Participation on Birmingham City Council AMHP rota (one day month) is required.
Participation on forensic service on call rota outside of normal working hours will be required.
You will have knowledge of Mental Health Social Work and the legal framework of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007), Criminal Justice and safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
You will have regular supervision and opportunities for professional development.
Candidates should have the ability to uphold anti-discriminatory social work practice and maintain clear boundaries in clinical and professional relationships.
To undertake the roles and responsibilities of a Social Supervisor in line with Ministry of Justice (MoJ) guidelines in combination with the Clinical Supervisor.
To support the effective risk management of service users in the forensic care pathway.
To prepare Social Circumstances Reports and attend Tribunals and Managers hearings under the Mental Health Act
To provide expertise in social care to multi-disciplinary teams to support patients discharge planning from medium secure hospitals.
To work with individual service users to reach their recovery goals in the context of MoJ community restriction orders.
To offer support and interventions to families and carers, working across inpatient and outpatient services.
Forensic social workers bring a social perspective incorporating principles of diversity, equality, and human rights.
To participate on FIRST out hours on call rota
Act as an AMHP for forensic service and support BCC City wide AMHP rota (currently one day month)
