Summary

This classified position is open to all qualified applicants. Applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The position involves approximately 2.61 hours per day, totaling 174 days per year. Salary Grade 6 offers $19.60 per hour (2025-26 Support Salary Table), with promotions resulting in a minimum 5% increase.
General Function
Under the supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation periods. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, classroom materials, and providing instruction in specialized subject areas such as music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical education, and languages.
Educational Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Formal education or training in the area of specialization is preferred.
- Educational requirement includes the equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) of full-time education at an institution of higher education, an associate\’s degree, or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test (to be required at a later date).
Knowledge & Ability
- Knowledge of subject matter areas associated with assigned courses.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with students, teachers, and school personnel.
- Effective teaching abilities in assigned course subjects.
Job-Related Experience
- None required.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
