Job Responsibilities

Independently manage a SLT caseload for adults with learning disabilities within an inter-disciplinary team. Assess, diagnose, and analyze treatment options for complex communication disabilities, including clients with challenging behaviour, dual diagnosis, autism spectrum disorder, and profound learning disabilities. Use evidence-based practice to manage Dysphagia, produce care plans, and evaluate health aspects related to Dysphagia.

Employ excellent communication skills with clients facing barriers such as severe learning disabilities, physical disabilities, deafness, or visual impairments. Use and teach Alternative and Augmentative Communication strategies, Sign language, and communication aids. Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies, organize case conferences, supervise students and assistants, and adhere to professional standards and guidelines.

Managerial and Service Development

Manage own caseload, supervise SLT Assistants, monitor practice, and contribute to service development and policies. Report issues and participate in audits and research activities.

Education and Development

Research and develop training courses, deliver training to diverse audiences, and keep up-to-date with new techniques and developments. Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and personal development.

Research and Audit

Identify and contribute to audits and research within areas of expertise, participate in quality assurance programs.
