Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational support for on-premises and cloud-hosted server environments and networks.
- Work closely with Application Support to help resolve service issues.
- Maintain, support, and develop all network infrastructure, servers, and associated systems to ensure secure and available data services for 6,500 IT users across 300 locations in the UK.
- Manage the lifecycle and continuously improve IT infrastructure services.
- Support change control, testing, and deployment of infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high levels of service delivery.
- Maintain IT security and assist in upholding security accreditations.
- Demonstrate strong operational skills and mindset.
- Mentor and be mentored in a collaborative environment.
- Identify, resolve, monitor, and design out issues.
- Keep Service Operation guides up to date.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience as a comprehensive Microsoft Cloud Operations Engineer.
- Experience with Cloud Services, IaaS, PaaS, Microsoft Azure (including Site Recovery and M365, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams).
- Azure networking experience (private endpoints, firewalls, VPNs, IP Groups).
- Experience with operating systems such as Windows Desktop, Windows Server, and Linux.
- Strong understanding of Azure Application Proxies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure products:
- Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, high availability clustering.
- Microsoft Data Protection Manager.
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Resilient LAN and WAN infrastructure knowledge, including:
- Physical layer – Switching, Routing, Firewall.
- Virtual layer – MPLS, VRF, SD-WAN, Hypervisor Virtual networks.
- Application layer – IPv4 & IPv6, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory Services.
