  • Mickleton, Moreton in Marsh, Newent, Northleach, Stroud, Stow on the Wold, Winchcombe, Wotton-under-Edge

A Community First Responder (CFR) scheme consists of trained volunteers who respond to emergency calls within their community on behalf of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. They provide patient care, including basic life support and defibrillation, until an ambulance arrives.

If you do not live in these areas but are still interested, we operate a CFR car based at Staverton Ambulance Station in Gloucester, which responds to patients in and around Gloucestershire.

As a volunteer, you would offer this community-based service willingly and without pay. The role is highly rewarding, offering opportunities to meet new people and learn valuable lifesaving skills through training provided by the Trust.

Please include in your application what makes you an exceptional Community First Responder and how you meet the person specification. Note that if there is no CFR scheme within a 3-mile radius of your postcode, you may not be shortlisted. If you wish to respond from your workplace, please specify this in the additional information section.

Applicants must be able to attend the following interview and training dates:

  • Interviews: Week commencing 1st & 8th September 2025 at Staverton Station, Cheltenham Road East, Churchdown, GL2 9QL.
  • Training: SkillZone, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Tuffley Lane, Gloucester, GL4 0AS on 27 & 28 September 2025 and 11 & 12 October 2025.

If you cannot attend all training days, please do not apply.

Volunteering with us is an unparalleled experience. We provide emergency and urgent care across a 10,000 square mile region, responding to approximately 2,650 incidents daily. We are committed to delivering the best patient care, guided by our five-year strategy focused on continual improvement.
