Production Manager – Plastics Engineering POST Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and forward-thinking engineering company in close to Nelson. Part of a larger, multi-sector group, this business operates across food manufacturing, transport, and bulk handling – offering specialist expertise in captive conveying products, complex drive components, and transport/agriculture wear components. With a full in-house machining service and advanced 4-axis CNC capabilities across routing, turning, and milling departments, this company also delivers ancillary processes for a range of specialist markets. Due to the planned retirement of the current Production Manager, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to lead and develop the manufacturing operations within this innovative plastics engineering division. The Role As Production Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in a business poised for growth, including a planned site relocation in the short to medium term. You’ll be responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality, and productivity across the full manufacturing lifecycle. This role is perfect for someone with a strong foundation in CNC processes, CAD systems, and the implementation of manufacturing KPIs. A keen eye for planning and process improvement, along with a solid understanding of quality assurance and workplace organisation, will be critical. Key Responsibilities * Collaborate with the commercial team to validate and optimise manufacturing processes for customer orders * Develop and manage production planning and workflow across departments * Oversee contract reviews, ensuring accuracy of drawings and timely procurement of tooling * Drive lead time management and capacity planning initiatives * Champion quality management systems and lead QC activities across all departments * Manage manufacturing admin, including order processing, part inspection, despatch, and certification * Oversee site safety systems, maintenance, and overall site management * Motivate and manage personnel, fostering a positive and high-performance team culture What We’re Looking For * Strong background in CNC machining and CAD-based design * Demonstrable experience implementing and monitoring engineering KPIs * Proven track record in manufacturing and capacity planning * Understanding of ISO or equivalent quality systems * Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills – able to inspire and influence teams * Highly organised with a solutions-focused approach Why Apply?
