Learning Support Assistant (Health & Social Care Focus) Location: Kensington, London Contract: Part-Time (4 days per week – Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Contract Type: Permanent About the Role A welcoming and forward-thinking sixth form college in Kensington is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the Health and Social Care department. This role is ideal for someone with a background or qualification in Health and Social Care (Level 3 preferred) who is passionate about supporting young people in post-16 education. You’ll work closely with teachers to provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students develop confidence, independence, and the skills they need to succeed in their studies. Key Responsibilities * Support students within Health and Social Care classes, both 1:1 and in small groups. * Assist learners in understanding course content and completing assignments. * Encourage positive learning attitudes and build students’ confidence and motivation. * Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt and differentiate resources to meet students’ needs. * Provide academic and pastoral support to ensure students achieve their full potential. * Contribute to tracking and reporting on student progress. * Promote inclusion and equal opportunities across the classroom. * Support students with additional learning needs, ensuring accessibility and engagement. Person Specification Essential: * Experience supporting young people in an educational setting. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. * Enthusiasm for working with post-16 learners. * Reliable, well-organised, and positive attitude towards learning support. Desirable: * Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent). * Previous experience supporting learners in vocational or BTEC settings. * Knowledge of learning differences and effective support strategies. Working Pattern * 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) * Wednesdays off * Term-time only (optional to specify if applicable) Safeguarding The college is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
