Job Title: HSE Specialist Location: Suffolk Start Date: ASAP About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Specialist to join our clients project team for a major substation expansion project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all site activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation, company standards, and client requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain HSE plans, procedures, and risk assessments specific to substation and electrical construction activities. Monitor site operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and permit conditions. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up on corrective actions. Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSE training to site personnel and subcontractors. Promote a proactive HSE culture across all project teams. Liaise with project management, engineering, and client representatives to align safety objectives and performance targets. Manage environmental monitoring, waste management, and pollution prevention measures. Support emergency preparedness and response planning.Qualifications & Experience NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety). Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSE roles within the power, utilities, or heavy construction sectors. Proven experience working on substation, transmission, or electrical infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of relevant HSE legislation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams.
