The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the National Governing Body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.
PR Manager – British Sailing
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum pro rata
Full Time: 35 hours per week (National & International travel required)

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is looking for an ambitious, strategically minded and creative PR Manager for British Sailing.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the public voice of high-performance sailing, change perceptions and help cement the future of our sport.
In addition to celebrating medal moments, you’ll be amplifying the positive power of sport. You’ll use the reach and influence of elite athletes to showcase the broader social impact of sailing from environmental responsibility to mental wellbeing, from youth development to community connection.
This is an exciting, fast-paced role built on a legacy of sporting success where you will:
- Lead bold, purpose-led PR campaigns that promote British Sailing, the wider World Class Programme and the associated pathways aligned with the RYA’s strategy and values.
- Uncover and share the stories behind the medals – highlighting how sailing supports wellbeing, personal growth, and wider societal conscious thinking.
- Work closely with elite athletes, giving them the tools to become advocates for change and positive role models beyond their sport.
- Manage media operations and engagement, acting as a trusted spokesperson and press office lead across domestic and international events.
- Create integrated PR plans across traditional, digital and social channels that cut through, inspire and reflect societal diversity and relevance of the sport today.
- Collaborate with partners, sponsors and internal teams to ensure messaging is cohesive, values-driven, and impact-focused.
