Special Needs Teaching Assistant Barnsley, S70 £95 per day Start date: September 2025 Contract type: 1 term temp initially Working hours: Monday – Friday, term time only Unique School Solutions are supporting a primary school in the S70 area of Barnsley, who are needing a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support a student on a 2:1 basis. Working under the direction of the Headteacher, the SENDCO and the class teacher, you will provide support to a student with complex needs, linked to communication and interaction, and Autism. Due to the needs of the student, you will also need to be physically fit and active. The role is to start in September 2025, for a minimum of 1 term. This could extend dependent on the student. About the school: * 2 form entry primary school * Diverse community which the school serves * \”Good\” school in all areas – Ofsted * Supportive and well organised leadership team Essential requirements for the role: * Previous experience working with children/adults with Special Educational Needs, within a school/residential/social care setting * Previous experience supporting children/adults with Communication and Interaction difficulties and/or Autism * A good level of physical fitness and stamina * The ability to build rapport with young learners * The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative * Experience with Phonics is advantageous.
