Job overview
We are looking for outstanding applicants with a high degree of enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to train and study to become registered Pharmacy Technicians – following completion of the Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship.
- This is a fixed term (2 year) contract
- The apprenticeship includes working in the hospital covering all aspects of hospital pharmacy and will include ONE day on-line remote learning with Bradford College.
- To be considered you MUST hold at least four GCSEs at grade C (or above) in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and another Science or similar qualifications e.g. dual Science (to include Chemistry and Biology or BTEC First Certificate in Science). You must be able to provide the original certificates (or certified copies) of the above at interview.
What this Opportunity means:
- A two year funded apprenticeship training programme which on successful completion of you will possess a BTEC level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians and meet the General Pharmaceutical Council requirements for professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician. Following qualification and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council you will be able to work as a Pharmacy Technician in a wide range of areas.

The interviews dates for this post will be on the 30th and 31st of July 2025.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to train within all areas of Pharmacy which will include clinical ward services, dispensing, patient counselling, clinical trials, aseptic services, homecare and community pharmacy.
You will spend 1 day each week working towards the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians were you will cover personal development, contribution to service improvement, undertake medication reconciliation and supply, assemble and check dispensed medicines and products & receive, validate and issue prescriptions.
You will spend 4 days gaining work experience within the hospital pharmacy at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
Candidates who possess a Level 4 or above qualification may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding and therefore may be required to self-fund the college course.
You must be willing to commit to a significant amount of study in your own time.
There will be a requirement to participate within a 7 day working pattern, this will include late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

- Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include Maths, English Language and TWO science subjects of which one must be chemistry (or dual Science award)
