Sport and Leisure Services directly or indirectly manages a range of high-quality Sport Facilities and delivers a range of health, fitness, and wellbeing initiatives across the University. Our role is squarely focused on Student Experience and directly supporting the University’s Strategic Vision.

Responsibilities

The Fitness Instructor will assist in the organisation and delivery of fitness and wellbeing programs. They will take responsibility for the delivery of coaching and exercise instruction, gym inductions, facility tours, gym operation, service planning, and customer relations. They will be responsible for establishing a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment.

The fitness instructor will be responsible for opening and closing the gym, which will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, on a shift pattern working 5 days over a 7-day period.

Person Specification

A recognised industry qualification in Fitness Instruction to a minimum of NVQ Level 2 and have current membership of REPs. Possess an in date First Aid at Work and have an excellent working knowledge of group exercise activities. An understanding of health, fitness and wellbeing trends including kettlebells and Functional Movement is essential.

Experience of planning and co-ordinating interactive health and fitness programmes. Demonstrable experience of working within the leisure industry and experienced in delivering class based and one to one programming.
