Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Certification Manager to support a leading Defence organisation, contributing to vital safety certification processes for ships, submarines, and boats. You will join a dynamic team responsible for overseeing certification management, driving business change initiatives, and ensuring compliance and robust reporting through comprehensive data management.
Location: Hybrid – Abbey Wood, Bristol (minimum 3 days per week onsite).
Rate: Up to £550/day (Inside IR35, via an umbrella company)
Contract Duration: ASAP – 31/03/2026 (Total of 110 days)

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Lead management and development initiatives within the Naval Authority Development Group (NADG), contributing to Naval Authority Notices and Directives.
- Regularly manage and update weekly PowerBI dashboards and associated databases, ensuring accurate weekly and monthly reporting metrics.
- Oversee certification business changes, actively engaging stakeholders, and maintaining progress updates through a structured Certification Business Change Plan.
- Facilitate stakeholder management, enhancing databases and reporting mechanisms to generate detailed Certification Reports.
- Support management of certification strategies, delegation letters, and administrative tasks linked to the NAIMS database.
- Coordinate the development, management, and distribution of the programme of work, contributing actively to the Naval Authority Publications Group (NAGP).
- Collaborate closely with teams assessing the application of ANEP102 and using SUBSAFE as a safety management tool, delivering comprehensive mapping reports and assessments.
- Represent the organisation at SSNALG, providing detailed reports on submarine certification issues.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK Defence safety and environmental business processes.
- Demonstrable experience in safety management policy and processes.
- Strong understanding of Defence Maritime operations and the Naval Authority\’s role in safety assurance and certification.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Active UK Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge and experience in submarine, ship, and boat certification, including familiarity with Recognised Organisations and Classification Societies.
- Proficiency in PowerBI.
