DB Cargo UK is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our operations department based at our Westbury hub.
As Operations Manager, you will ensure that safety performance, customer service delivery, competence, and compliance, as well as line management responsibilities, are carried out in line with the strategy at DB Cargo UK.
We are seeking a leader to maintain high standards of service delivery, both direct and indirect, with our customers. This is an integral position to ensure our front-line staff collaborate effectively with our customers.
Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
- Leading and managing a team of staff including Groundstaff and Train Drivers, in collaboration with other Operations Managers in the area.
- Managing flow specific to our customers\’ requirements and delivering accordingly.
- Monitoring performance metrics such as OTIF and using the Performance Support Tool.
- Optimizing employee workload through efficient planning.
- Contributing to route learning through initial briefings and final sign-offs.
- Conducting local inductions for contractors, new employees, and visitors.
- Attending customer review meetings, resolving queries, and planning resources to meet workflow and customer demands.
- Managing on-site contractors for your hub.
- Promoting a culture of performance feedback to improve safety incidents, employee training needs, and reviews.
- Ensuring compliance with safety-critical medical standards, restrictions, and risk assessments.
- Leading recruitment efforts in your area with the Talent Acquisition Team to attract top talent.
- Developing collaborative relationships with Network Rail and participating in Safety & Performance meetings.
- Taking 1st line on-call responsibility, including initial investigations and Chain of Care.
- Assisting with internal and external audits and developing action plans for non-compliance.
- Liaising with the Loading Standards Inspector regarding load patterns and checks.
- Managing tenant and property-related workloads within your area.
- Participating in short and long-term projects as required, with a designated successor or deputy to ensure core tasks are continued.
