Job Description
Location: Wrexham, UK
Part Time: 20 hours per week (fixed schedule). Applicants must be available on Mondays and Tuesdays. Final hours will depend on the successful candidate(s), but will remain consistent week to week.
Service Details
- NEC manages the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF) on behalf of the Welsh Government.
- The DAF team awards clients with cash, grants, and white goods to individuals experiencing financial hardship.
- Core functions include verifying and resolving grant applications against set criteria.
- Assisting customers via phone, online, and email.
The Role
Support delivery of Discretionary Welfare Fund (DAF) contract work via online, telephone, and postal applications. Act as the first point of contact for applicants and system administrator for the NEC system to input and process applications.
- Process emergency payments and individual assistance grant applications.
- Manage and process data in a fast-paced office environment.
- Ensure accurate data recording.
- Liaise with applicants to process information into the DAF system.
- Conduct eligibility checks, seeking information directly from applicants and using additional sources for confirmation.
- Understand legislation and criteria involved in awarding emergency payments and grants, and process applications accordingly.
- Comply with the Processing Services Customer Charter when dealing with calls.
- Work as part of a team to achieve targets set by management.
- Handle correspondence related to Local Welfare Provision via phone, email, or letter.
- Respond to enquiries professionally from clients, citizens, and colleagues.
- Act as a key deliverer of the DAF contract.
