Garment Technologist & Product Developer
We are looking for a diligent, hardworking, detail orientated person to join the Emilia Wickstead team.
You must have strong knowledge of the production and product development processes, including garment construction, pattern cutting.
You should be able to trouble shoot any issues that arise, have strong communication within the Emilia Wickstead team and factories, with a quick response and be responsible for final product.
Key Responsibilities:
– Creating a product that satisfies design, customers, and manufacturers by being highly passionate about product innovation & product quality.
– Taking ownership of the product and all issues related to it through evaluating the quality & costs and through recommending & discussing product changes to ensure that customer needs and design objectives are always met.
– Follow the critical path and help to ensure that development deadlines are met, flagging issues early to relevant parties, helping to avoid and resolve problems and communicating changes to the team
– Updating Tech Packs from SMS fitting, production fitting, ensuring that all data is up-to-date and correct, and tracking any changes (BOM, CAD, Make, Lay plans, Model file, Measurements)
– Ensuring wearing tests and dry-cleaning tests are performed during sampling, considering fabric and finishing’s
– Maintain consistency of quality and fit across all collections, updating and introducing standards and procedures through the supplier manual
– Communicate fit, quality and construction requirements to manufactures through fitting comments
– Visiting factories to ensure EW quality and performance standards are met
– Follow up fabric or garment quality issues with Head of Atelier & Production Director
– Manage all samples before the fit meeting – press/reference samples, inspect initial samples, chasing SMS samples in.
– Manage and inspect samples for fit and quality, sewing on buttons, ensure samples are correct measurements.
Production & Development:
– Measuring all SMS samples prior to each fitting, including toiles & finished samples, maintaining EW measurements
– Understanding written notes from sampling & production fittings with design
– Following up pattern amendments made at fittings with pattern cutters, checking patterns prior to sending to factories
– Preparing SMS tech packs with up-to-date BOMS, re-issuing lay plans if required, fitting, finishing comments and issuing full measure charts
– Weekly updating of style SMS tracker
– Fitting and approving final pre-production size range fit samples with design and updating comments and measurements for pattern cutters and grader prior to sending out for production or handing over to production
– Following up pattern amendments made at PP fittings with pattern cutters, checking patterns prior to sending to factories
– Follow up fabric or garment quality issues with Head of RTW
– Liaising with UK factories & offshore on production at all stages, also following up delivery deadlines
– Seasonal QC inspection visits with factories in UK & offshore factories
– Seasonal review with design and sales team on fit requirements and finishing
– Seasonal market research in fit, sizing and finishes
– Managing quality feedback from EW store and our W/S client to appropriate action to implement improvement
– Visiting Emilia Wickstead store to review latest delivery of production garments and ensure quality delivered is as expected per collection.
– Report to your RTW Manager on any issues with both development & production handover.
Financial
– Keeping records of all invoices and inputting information into Zedonk per season
– Regularly liaising with finance department to have full transparency with studio orders.
Atelier General – Support
– Staying on top of stock orders for Atelier general, trims, equipment, cutting paper, garment bags, machine needles, zips etc…
– Staying on top of trim cupboard organisation, keeping tidy, updating storage area
MTO – Support
– Supporting when necessary, the MTO manager, when there is overflow, Understand, oversee & assemble MTO tech packs for all Private Clients orders.

NB Flexible at peak times to manage workload and to support Atelier Director on collections, Capsule collections overflow at company peak times if necessary and any further business demands that may arise.
