Join our Sales & Estimating Team at FDS, a UK leader in the design, installation, and maintenance of smoke ventilation systems. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to contribute to our growing portfolio of projects. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise to provide accurate cost estimates, analyse project requirements, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure project success.
Salary: £45,000 – Plus Personal Performance Based Commission
Responsibilities
- Analyse tender enquiry drawings, fire strategy and specifications to determine scope of work
- Quantify materials and labour needed for projects based upon the tender information
- Preparing and submitting quotations
- Updating quotations throughout the tender process as information or addendums are issued
- Identifying project risks; technically and commercially
- Review of contracts to ensure content is consistent with tender information and that scope of work is as quoted
- Preparation of schedules of rates and costs for applications for payment
- Design checks to ensure designs meet agreed scope of works
- Finalising budgets used for live projects
- Liaising with team members at different stages of a project to ensure costs/budgets are met
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients
- Via CRM, maintain comprehensive records of estimates for client following ups and reporting
- Project handovers to design and project management
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to integrate well into a team as well as work independently
- Ability to collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and pricing information
- Ability to work closely with surveyors, architects and engineers to understand the project requirements
- Ability to negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors
- Ability to negotiate with clients
- Meticulous in analysing tender information to ensure that all aspects of a project are considered within costs and written quotations
- Technical knowledge in smoke ventilation. Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to identify alternative methods or materials to reduce costs while maintaining quality, standards and functionality
- Proficient I.T Skills (particularly Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Must be able to plan and prioritise workload effectively
- Excellent client service focus
