Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week
The Interventional Radiology (IR) department seeks an experienced nurse or ODP to lead the IR nursing team, working alongside the IR manager, radiographers, consultants, and support staff.
Chester is the hub for the SMART centre, performing complex vascular procedures from the local area and spoke sites at Arrowe Park and Warrington. An on-call service is provided, and the successful candidate will participate in out-of-hours duties.
IR procedures include vascular and non-vascular interventions such as arterial and venous interventions, embolisations, GI stenting, abscess drains, nephrostomies, and image-guided biopsies.
The department has a Radiographer-led PICC team and an advanced radiographer practitioner providing nephrostomy exchanges, NG/NJ insertions, and image-guided lumbar punctures. The department recently underwent refurbishment, including a new theatre with Canon imaging equipment and plans for a second theatre.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure safe, competent performance within your designated area and provide specialist care for pre/peri/post-operative patients.
- Maintain effective communication among theatre services and between medical, nursing, administrative, and management staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Engage with patients and relatives to involve them in their care and meet their needs.
