Job Description:

Widener University\’s School of Nursing (SON) has vacancies for Psych/Mental Health Adjunct Clinical Instructors. This position supports the growth of the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Psych/Mental Health Adjunct Clinical Instructor will teach in the undergraduate program at a clinical site with 8 students, focusing on patient care within the psychiatric patient population. Clinical instructors are expected to be available one shift per week for the semester, with rotations possible during day or evening hours, weekdays or weekends.

Clinical Responsibilities of Adjunct Faculty

  • Complete facility orientation prior to clinical start
  • Complete all clinical health requirements in Castlebranch
  • Create patient assignments before the clinical day
  • Supervise students in patient care
  • Review and provide feedback on clinical assignments
  • Submit grades as directed
  • Provide weekly feedback to students
  • Complete midterm and final evaluations
  • Plan instructional activities for conferences
  • Communicate issues at the clinical site
  • Responsible for all clinical hours
  • Write recommendation letters upon request

Qualifications include a Master of Science in Nursing or a related field; Bachelor\’s degree acceptable if enrolled in a Master\’s program, with completion within 5 years. Clinical experience is required, along with RN licensure in PA, NJ, or DE, or the ability to obtain licensure before clinical start. At least three years of recent clinical practice in the relevant specialty is required. Preference will be given to candidates with Clinical Instructor experience. Candidates with multiple specialties should apply to the appropriate posting. All adjuncts must complete background checks and clinical requirements prior to starting.
