Our digital platforms are essential to providing a world-class fan experience, and we’re looking for a talented and driven Back-End Developer to join our Fan Technology Solutions team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the Man City Fan Technology Platform, the backbone of all digital products and services for Manchester City Football Club. This platform plays a crucial role in delivering a seamless and engaging experience for our fans, and you will help enhance its performance and scalability. About the Role As a Back-End Developer, you will play a key role in designing and developing core platform functionality, including CMS and APIs, to support fan-facing applications. Working closely with other developers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders, you’ll ensure the technology behind our digital experiences runs smoothly and efficiently, helping to build scalable solutions for high-traffic volumes in an Agile environment. What You\’ll Do: Design and develop CMS and APIs for integration by internal teams and third-party suppliers across Man City Digital Products. Work with fellow developers and key suppliers to identify and define changes or new features for the platform. Partner with the Lead Back-End Developer to design secure, scalable architecture for changes or new features. Create comprehensive documentation for work packages, ensuring they can be easily shared with teams and suppliers. Manage and prioritise the development backlog, collaborating with teams to ensure timely delivery. Monitor and troubleshoot the platform for stability and performance, proactively introducing improvements. Explore new technologies, services, and suppliers to enhance the fan experience or generate online revenue. What We’re Looking For: Extensive experience with .NET Development (C#). Strong expertise with Umbraco CMS. Proficiency in designing and implementing REST APIs. Cloud hosting experience, preferably with Azure. Strong SQL Server experience, including stored procedures. Experience with document databases like Cosmos DB or MongoDB. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps. Understanding of legal frameworks for handling user data (e.g., GDPR, PCI). Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively. Strong problem-solving ability and technical mindset. Nice to Have: Experience with .NET Core and modern development frameworks. Familiarity with serverless technologies (Azure Functions). Experience with CDNs (Cloudflare) and API Gateways (Azure APIM). Advanced SQL Server (Azure SQL). Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic) and Postman. Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Clean Code principles. Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
