Health and Safety Consultant
Health & Safety Consultant required for an established UK Health & Safety consultancy. We are seeking a home-based Health and Safety Consultant, primarily covering East Midlands, with ideal location near Cambridge, Peterborough, Northampton and some flexibility to travel or stay overnight for clients outside the area.

Job Description
You will work with clients across a broad range of business sectors in your allocated area delivering best-in-class health and safety advice and guidance to ensure compliance with current UK legislation. You will have a strong H&S background with relevant experience, appropriate technical and professional qualifications, as well as knowledge of codes of practice / industry standards. You will be offering professional support to employers in many different industry sectors in the UK, providing practical and commercial advice on H&S issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify gaps in clients\’ management of Health and Safety, produce an audit report, identify non-compliance, and produce a time-framed action plan. Follow up within two weeks.
- Establish a tailored Safety Management system to support ongoing compliance with current Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
- Build and develop key professional relationships with clients.
- Contribute to development and implementation of new added value services, including Health and Safety training and Fire Risk Assessments.
- Support clients on Health and Safety standards and best practice affecting their business.
- Provide quarterly touch points and feedback to clients following visits or support calls.
- Record all client interaction on internal CRM system.
- Act as out-of-hours Health and Safety advisor on a rotation basis via a 24/7 helpline.
- Identify new business opportunities and arrange quotations for clients.
- Liaise with other departments.
Qualifications & Experience
You should have a strong H&S background with experience, appropriate technical and professional qualifications and knowledge of codes of practice / industry standards. Ideally you will have some of the following qualifications:
- Chartered IOSH (CMIOSH)
- NEBOSH Diploma
- ISO45001 lead auditor
- Accredited IOSH trainer
- Fire Qualifications Certificate Essential; Diploma Preferred. Other specialisms such as environment, DSEAR desirable.
- NEBOSH General/NCRQ/NVQ Level 3
- TechIOSH, with activity towards Chartered status
- Minimum two years in a frontline health and safety role
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and H&S auditing software
Teamwork & Communication
Proactively support colleagues, provide a positive professional image, assist the field sales team to secure new business, seek opportunities to highlight additional services, share knowledge with colleagues, deliver training as appropriate, and communicate effectively.
This role will require travel in your allocated area on a regular basis, with some overnight stays possible.
